What you can expect from this role:

The Coding Denial Specialist is responsible for providing support in the function areas of Revenue Cycle. Ensures adherence to coding guidelines, company policies, procedures, and related government regulations.

  • Under limited supervision, performs professional level support activities in one or more functional areas of revenue cycle. Uses established procedures to perform assigned tasks.

  • Researches and consolidates information required for analysis of revenue cycle operations. Prepares reports in conformance with legal requirements or organization needs.

  • May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.

  • Prepares special projects as assigned. Assists in the development and implementation of revenue cycle policies and procedures.

  • Performs special analysis, reconciles designated accounts, etc. within assigned functional areas.

  • Analyzes and interprets coding guidelines, company policies, procedures and state and federal regulations affecting the assigned functional area.

  • Maintains a broad and high level knowledge of contracts, regulatory and benefit terms related to various commercial payers, workers compensation, liability, or various governmental payers.

  • Conducts testing of system updates related to Revenue Cycle processes and provides feedback. Identifies and recommends solutions for system or process improvements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for this Role:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience: 3 year's experience.

  • Licenses/Certifications: Must have at least one of the following credentials: RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), or any American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) coding credential, or any American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) coding credential. The CCA (Certified Coding Associate) and CPC-A (Certified Professional Coder Apprentice) certifications are excluded from satisfying this requirement.
